The Best Blinds For Your Conservatory

If you have a conservatory, perhaps you’ve had a new one installed, you may be considering blinds as window coverage. There are various types of blinds to choose from, and you may be wondering about which ones are right for your conservatory.

Sun, Light and Window Protection

With floor-to-ceiling windows you’ll have light flooding into your home. Regardless of whether you use the conservatory as an area for relaxation or as an office or dining room, a conservatory can trap both heat and light when the weather is hot, so you need to provide some protection from this for when it becomes too much. After all, even through glass, sun can burn, and your furniture can fade due to bright light.

Light Control and Matching Your Conservatory Design

Having the right type of blinds is crucial in making sure you give your conservatory the right kind of light control. There are various types of blinds and deciding on which one can be a little confusing. Think carefully about coverage and how they’re going to match your furnishings and décor.

Vertical Blinds – These provide horizontal closing with vertical louvres. They’re great for large windows so in the conservatory they’re perfect. What’s also great is that they can be used to control light, the louvres can be adjusted to allow just the right amount of light in, while at the same time not blocking it out completely.

Roller Blinds – Roller blinds are great, again for light control and window coverage, although you would need several of them placed side-by-side for them to work with the cord, as one blind alone would make it difficult to control. This could make it more costly than other blinds, although you would get more light control. You could pull them down on one window and perhaps have one up on another, so there’s light in certain parts of the conservatory.

Venetian Blinds – These are great for conservatories and the slatted louvres give you superb light control. They come in both wooden and aluminium in a variety of styles so you are sure to find something that works with the decor you have in place.
