Tips For Cleaning Venetian Blinds
When you decided to have Venetian blinds you may have been swayed by their sophistication and minimalist elegance. And who can blame you? They really are elegant, sophisticated and fit in so easily with your interiors. You may have also been impressed with the maintenance, after all they're a vast improvement on curtain and nets, which fill with dust and then have to be taken down and replaced while they're either washed or dry cleaned. However, now you've had them fitted, perhaps you're wondering which is the best way of keeping your Venetian blinds clean? It's a simple process and we're going to be going over it in today's post.
Keeping Those Blinds Super Clean
Dry dusting without the use of liquids is the easiest way of cleaning your Venetian blinds, dusting each individual slat that's trapped dust is very effective. You can buy useful tools to clean with antistatic cloths and gloves,or you can just use a traditional dusting cloth. You can also use a feather duster which will help get between each individual slat.
You can also use water and a cleaning solution, being careful not to buy one that's too harsh. Window cleaner and washing up liquid are two other potential cleaning solutions, but always check the manufacturer's instructions first. However, you can also check a small amount of solution on one tiny bit of one of the slats, but with another cloth in your hand to clean it away quickly. If you don't want to risk that, then just check the manufacturer's instructions.
Vacuum Your Venetian Blinds
Sounds strange, but yes you can vacuum your Venetian blinds clean. Just make sure the suction isn't too strong as the nozzle may drag the slats apart of it is.
Deep Clean Your Venetian Blinds
You can deep clean your Venetian blinds if you feel they need it, but it will involve taking them down from the window and you may not be keen when you've already discarded the curtains for the very reason that you had to take them down to clean in the first place.
However, if they are that dirty, then take them down and place them in a bathtub, or you could lay them out in the garden. Here, you can apply a cleaning solution to the water and leave it to soak. Again, always check the manufacturer's instructions before using any solution.
Wooden Venetians
If you have wooden Venetian blinds then using liquids on them isn't really a good idea. It could warp the slats and stain the finish, even taking off the laminate.
